1. Choose a product that works best for your skin. Do not buy just because it is famous or expensive.
2. Use foundation only when needed. But if you are exposed to dirt and pollution, it is better t okeep the skin covered. You can try massaging a bit of sunblock or dermatologist-prescribed creams. These creams work better and are safer to use as a make up base. You can pat on the usual face powder when needed.
3. Water-based or powder foundations are still the best for daily use. While they may require frequent retouch applications, they nevertheless do not clog the pores as much as cream-based concealers and foundations.
4. Nothing opens up a face more than good blush. Peach-colored blush works best any time of the day for any skin type.
5. Eyebrows define a face. Unwanted eyebrow hairs strands are as much a sad sight as dirty, unkept nails.
6. Light brown eyebrow pencil works best for Asian eyebrows as well as a top eyelid liner. Simply line eyes there, then smudge. This gives an instant sultry look.
7. Let fo of purplish- and brownish-toned lipsticks. They automatically add years to anyone’s face. Rose-tinted lipsticks work best for everyone.
8. Never invest in multicolored eye shadow palettes. Those cute, affordable Korean or Japanese ones work just as well for one-time experimental use.
9. Before anything else, exfoliate the face to reveal new skin that will be easy to work with.
10. A moisturizer or a base primer with a luminizing effect may be applied to achieve an instant glow.
11. Use sheer foundation to even out your skin tone. Apply it evenly and lightly, concentratin under the eyes and the side of the nose. Blend with upward strokes. Triangular wedge sponges are ideal to reach even the creases.
12. Use a hard and ash-blond brow pencil to fill in your brows. Ash-blonde looks more natural than any other color. Apply it with feathery strokes then brush to soften the edges.
13. Use liquid eyeliner with a fine, felt-tip brush for a very black and precise line.
14. A good eyelash curler can help open up the eyes. It should have a bouncy rubber to hold up and release the lashes being curled. Start where the lash roots are, then curl them upwards.
15. Bronzers are also good for medium-toned skin, to warm the face and create a sexy look.
16. A natural-toned lip liner is best and safe to use to balance out any look. It should be applied evenly unto the entire lip area for a more lasting effect, and to prevent lip color from bleeding.
17. Don’t be scared to experiment and try out new things.
18. Be aware of the lifespan of your makeup. Change mascara every six months because bacteria breeds fast because of the moisture. Lipstick lasts for one to two years. Powder, eye shadow and blush lasts for two years. The rule of the thumb is, if it smells weird, throw it out.
