A Coffin For A Bed

A man fell asleep in a coffin at a funeral home. What really happened was that he allegedly broke into that funeral home and then fell asleep in the coffin. Too bad. Now, he’s charged with burglary and criminal mischief. I think he simply thought the coffin was too comfortable.

That man was Joel Fish, 20 years old and is from Queensbury. The funeral home was the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton. He was arrested after he was discovered sleeping peacefully in his coffin-bed. Fish was intoxicated. He was also treated for cuts at the Canton-Potsdam hospital.

It was Debra White who saw Joel White is the wife of Joe White, the funeral director. She claims she noticed a broken window and an open door to the casket display. This happened when she woke up at 6:30am. She also discovered a boot and a pair of pants and knees sticking out of a stainless steel coffin.

Debra White, wife of the home's funeral director Joe White, said she noticed a broken window and open door to the casket display room when she awoke at 6:30 a.m. Inside, she saw a boot and pair of pants on the floor and a pair of knees sticking out of a stainless steel coffin.

The damage costs around $4000, as estimated by the funeral home.
